Volunteer

Where Could You Help?

There are many different ways to get involved, and not all of them happen on a Sunday. Some roles are regular, others are occasional, and many can fit around work, family and other commitments.

  • Children’s groups and Sunday activities
  • Midweek groups and clubs
  • Youth work and mentoring
  • Supporting families at baptisms and special services

(All roles working with children and young people are supported by safeguarding training and DBS checks.)

  • Welcoming and hospitality
  • Reading, intercessions and assisting in services
  • Music, singing and technical support (sound, visuals, livestreaming)
  • Helping prepare the church for Sunday and midweek services
  • Supporting weddings, funerals and baptisms
  • Being part of our pastoral care and listening ministry
  • Offering practical help at key moments in people’s lives
  • Churchyard care and maintenance
  • General building maintenance and DIY
  • Helping keep our church safe, welcoming and well‑presented
  • Administration and office support
  • Communications, website and social media
  • Fundraising and events
  • Finance support
  • Serving on the PCC (trustees/governance)

Some roles need specific skills; many simply need a willing heart.

Get Involved – Serve, Belong, Make a Difference

Get Involved – Serve, Belong, Make a Difference

At Holy Trinity Idle, church is far more than what happens on a Sunday morning. Every week, people of all ages encounter God, find friendship, receive care, and grow in faith because others choose to serve.

Our services and activities only continue to be successful because ordinary people generously give their time, skills and hearts. Whether you have been part of Holy Trinity for years, have joined us recently, or have never volunteered before, there is a place for you.

“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.” – 1 Peter 4:10

Why Volunteer?

Volunteering at church is not about being an expert or having everything figured out. It is about saying “yes” to God and allowing Him to use what you already have.

By getting involved you can:

  • Play a practical role in the life and mission of the church
  • Build friendships and feel more connected
  • Discover and develop gifts you may not even realise you have
  • Serve God in a meaningful, hands‑on way
  • Help ensure Holy Trinity continues to welcome, support and inspire others

Many people tell us that volunteering has strengthened their faith just as much as it has helped others.

New to Church? You’re Welcome Too

You don’t have to be a long‑standing church member to get involved. Many people begin by helping in a small, simple way and find that serving helps them feel at home and part of the church family.

If you are exploring faith, returning to church, or simply curious, volunteering can be a gentle and meaningful way to connect.

Interested? Let’s Start a Conversation

If you feel a nudge to get involved – or even just want to explore what might suit you – we would love to hear from you.

There is no pressure and no obligation. It starts with a conversation.

Please speak to a member of the clergy, a churchwarden, or contact us via the church office.

Together, we can continue to serve God, serve one another, and serve our wider community here in Idle and beyond.
